Jambo! African Festa
In order to increase international awareness in the local area, the Kanoya International Exchange Association (KIEA) will be holding an event called ‘Jambo! African Festa’.
The event will feature a screening of the film ‘Chokora’ which follows the lives of street children in the Republic of Kenya.
Terumi Matsushita, a representative from an NGO in Kenya that is providing support to these children, will give a lecture and the famous Japanese thumb piano player Sakaki Mango (whose music is featured in the film) will also perform on the day.
We want as many people as possible to come to this event so advance tickets are only going to cost 500 yen.
There will be African food and folk crafts for sale on the day as well as a photo exhibition and drum performance from a local djembe group.
This will be an excellent opportunity for children (and adults too!) to gain a global perspective so please ask your friends and family to come along too.
*Proceeds from this event will be directly donated to housing funds and facilities that are currently supporting street children in Kenya.
