Event Report
This past Sunday March 15th, we held this year’s ‘Games from around the World (Sekai no Asobi) event at Kanoya Elementary School’s gym hall. On the day we gathered 70 parents and children to learn about children’s games from eight different countries. During the first hour, participants experienced the following games:
Thailand's ‘Gaa Fau Kai’ (‘Angry crow defends its eggs’)
The United Kingdoms's ‘Shove Ha’penny’
The Philippines’ ‘Exchange the basket’
Ireland’s ‘Wizards, giants and goblins’
Sweden’s ‘Kubb’
The USA’s ‘What’s the time Mr. Wolf?’
After these games, we all joined together to play two larger games, Japan’s ‘Oodama korogashi’ (Rolling the big ball), and Mexico’s ‘Pinata whacking’. Judging by the reactions of the children who took part, they had a lot of fun playing the games and meeting the non-Japanese instructors.
Below are some photos of the days events.
