World Cooking Salon -Christmas Ginger Bread House
The World Cooking Salon ~Christmas Ginger Bread House~ was held in KAPIC center on Sunday, December 16th from 1pm. The event was part of the “Christmas from around the World” in KAPIC center and Kanoya Folk Museum.
Kanoya City CIR Sandy Huang from Canada introduced “Ginger Bread House” which is usually prepared during the Christmas season in western countries. In Canada, families gather round to make the ginger bread house and decorate the Christmas dinner table with it as the centerpiece. The ginger bread house was also mentioned as the witch’s house in the Brothers Grimm fairy tale “Hansel and Gretel.” This time we made simple ginger bread houses from graham crackers.
Many participants came with their families and had a great time together! Many houses were great success whereas some houses unfortunately collapsed in the end. But the participants designed the houses on their own and made them one of a kind in the world!
This event was very popular. As soon as the information was published in the city newsletter, the occupancy was full. For those people who didn’t make it this year, remember to sign up right away next year!
